Support at the Compass Centre
We believe you. We listen to you. We help you to find your own way forward.
The Compass Centre is a safe, comfortable space where you can
be you. We work with you at your own pace to find a way forward after trauma. We
provide free, inclusive, and confidential support and information to anyone, of
any gender (age 13+), in Shetland affected by any form of sexual violence. This
includes survivors, as well as family, friends, and supporters.
We can support you after a recent incident or if you experienced sexual violence in the past, whether as an adult or as a child.
You don’t have to talk about anything you don’t want to. We will give you the time and space to talk about what is important to you, and we will listen to what you have to say.
We understand that it can be difficult to feel anonymous in Shetland. If you want to be seen in person, we can work with you to access the centre in a way that protects your privacy. If you prefer not to meet face-to-face, we can also provide support over the phone, via Zoom/Facetime, by text, by email, and through messaging services.
We can support you to re-engage with things that bring you joy and help you to discover new things that help you to feel safe and well. In a safe and confidential space, we empower you to engage with your emotions, and to heal.
If you are thinking about reporting what happened to you, we can help. We can provide information about the justice system and support you during the justice process, such as accompanying you at a police statement or at court.
You are not alone.
