Sexual Violence Counselling Practitioner
Shetland Rape Crisis is an independent specialist charity working towards a Shetland where everyone is equally safe and respected; where women and girls thrive as equal citizens; and where no-one lives with the threat of sexual violence or its impacts.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Sexual Violence Counselling Practitioner at Shetland Rape Crisis, based in The Compass Centre in Lerwick.
We are looking for someone accredited with or working towards full accreditation with BACP or COSCA to provide a key role in the provision of confidential and trauma-informed support for survivors of sexual violence. This post is restricted to women only as a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9, paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
You will be supported to develop your counselling skills and values-based approach, and a comprehensive induction and training programme will be provided to ensure you are able to carry out the full responsibilities of the role.
We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace and supporting flexible ways of working. While this role is designed as 30 hours per week, we welcome applications from candidates interested in job share, flexible hours, or other arrangements. We are keen to explore options that work for both you and the organisation. This is a fixed term post until 31st March 2027. The post may be extended, subject to funding.
